Power Lines and Visitors Center

powerlinesandvisitorscenter.jpg

Driving over the dam back into Nevada shows a view of the powers lines that carry power to the grid from the generators. The building with the spire houses the visitors center where you board the elevators down to the power plant. It also offers an overlook of the high side of the dam. The rising supports in the background are for a bridge that will become the Hoover Dam bypass. The dam is also a bridge across the Colorado Riiver connecting Nevada and Arizona. It is a two lane road and can get very congested with tourist and regular traffic. The bridge will offer a bypass around the dam. The bridge will be over 2000 feet long and is over 900 feet high over the Black Canyon.
